This week started out slowly from the standpoint of going places, which is needed as the upcoming week will be filled with many engagements.
God has been working through our blog posts, and more donors have stepped forward to contribute funds to the school project. Halleluia!
We discussed and decided that we’d purchase items to complete the roof. Wood for frames and trusses, metal sheets, nails and fasteners, along with the labor to erect. With these contributions we have surpassed 50% of the project goal. Praise God!
On Saturday, 8/15, we attended a portion of the Salvation Army Regional meeting where Esther was crowned the Queen in her division for fund raising for the children’s home and disabled. We were given the opportunity to greet those attending and Ray was asked to dance with them. It was a great celebration. King David danced, so Ray was dancing for God.
That evening, we had a meeting with two representatives of the school. We were able to share with them how good God is and our donors had provided more funds. We told them of our plan to complete the roof. They were overjoyed and very grateful. We explained that God had provided, not us.
On Sunday, 8/16, we were up early for the 5:30am prayer service at the Salvation Army Church. When asked if there were any testimonies, Ray pointed to next door, the school and told of God’s provision for the on-going repair work.
Later that morning we went to World Commission Church, an evangelical church based on biblical core beliefs for their service. Both Ray and I were given the opportunity to speak. I shared Ps 23 and spoke about ‘want’. I want for nothing but God and He provides all that I need.
Ray spoke about discipleship, on our uniqueness looking at the giraffe’s markings and zebra’s stripes, none are the same, and we are all God’s favorite. He continued with hearing the voice of God, our intimate relationship with Him and how to apply God’s attributes in our daily walk here on earth.
There was an altar call given where Ray and I were able to pray with those that came forward. Ray was given several additional opportunities to explain how to put God’s word in action in our daily lives, from the moment we get up in the morning through the day until we lay our head down at night.
After the message and teaching (which lasted about 2 hours!), we showed the Jesus film and answered questions afterwards. We shared a meal with the leaders and had a lot of good conversation.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, 8/19 we will show the Jesus film at the youth gathering of the regional Salvation Army 4-day event where approximately 500 middle/high school students are expected.
Ray and I are being given more opportunities later this week and next.
Thursday, 8/20 I’ll teach along with Ray, and again next Tuesday, 8/25 Ray will teach more on discipleship principles.
On 8/26, we plan to travel to Migori, 4 – 5 hours away from where we are, to meet with Captain Simon and Getray for two days. They asked us to show the Jesus film and speak. They are the leaders of the Bukura church we met last year. Major David and Rebecca, the current leaders of the Bukura church, came from Migori and traded assignments in December.
